The Danny Masterson Trial thread

I'd say they are loyal in different ways, at least SO and staff:
1st gens are loyal to Hubbard and his 'tech'.
2nd, 3rd etc gens are loyal to the organization. Not so much to an abstract idea of KSW.

However, Danny was not in the SO or staff. Basically he's a celebrity kid who happens to be a scientologist. It seems he also happens to be an empathy-deprived sociopathic sex criminal. I doubt he is loyal to anyone but himself.

The 1st gens legitimately think Scientology is the only hope of salvation for this universe (on this planet). I can think of many who would do anything to protect Scientology. They would have no problem lying in court, going to jail or anything else. If they were asked, they would do it. I'm sure there are some 2nd gens who are as dedicated but I struggle to think of any who I think would willing lie to a jury or go to jail for the sake of Scientology. I'm curious what your perspective is, do you think 2nd/3rd gen Scientologists would be as willing to do anything for Scientology?

Maybe. I lost the ability to predict what Davey will and will not do a long time ago. I'm not that good with predicting the behavior of irrational individuals unless I get to intimidate them first.

oh yeah, i get that DM may seem hard to predict.

still, it seems to me in general that the CoS likes to scapegoat the wog world and even paint themselves as sort of victims of its aberration, and so it could be preferable to have a member be convicted and then be able to claim wog injustice, than to have them plead guilty and essentially confess publicly that they failed to be one of the most ethical people on the planet when they were held in good standing by the 'church'. does that fit at all with anything you saw at your level?

i still think that is likely the high level calculation. as i've said before it would fit with the Raniere sex cult case where they're now dragging out appeals using top lawyers and getting hired gun experts to make convoluted claims about persecution by the prosecution, which seems to energize the true believers and dead enders, but maybe that's not relevant to the CoS.

I struggle to think of any who I think would willing lie to a jury or go to jail for the sake of Scientology.

I can think of quite a few. Julian comes to mind, but given his role here I doubt he will testify.
A certain good looking lady who used to work in WUS with I&R and then was moved to flag also comes to mind. She was one of these people who were able to lie on the emeter without batting an eyelid without getting a read, was able to hysterically cry and sob on demand and overall wasted her life by going into the SO instead of becoming an actress.
If they would put her on the stand, I'm sure the jury would give her an oscar for the performance, even if the facts would prove her wrong.

I never had any celebrity at my level. I never had any pedo stuff, any rape nor murder on my level.

But if you ask me what I would have done way back when if Danny's case dropped on my desk? I'd pull JD, Danny, Luke and pretty much every single scientologist on that party through a tag-team interrogation. Then I'd have my guys dredge up all their files looking for any connection. Then I'd find key people around them and run them through the gator in turn.
If any other witness or anything in anyone's file would corroborate that it wasn't an isolated incident or a figment of JD's imagination, then we'd have Danny tag-teamed freeform for 10+ hours straight. Or more... until we got something out of him that we all would consider to sound true based on our shared collective experience.

If we would have ended up with the notion that the accusation is substantiated, then Danny would find himself the accountable unit in that case.
Then we would find all the people who knew about this or previous instances and failed to report it. We would run them through the gator until they brake.
In the end Danny would get declared together with probably everyone else who knew but failed to report. Danny's siblings and parents would be next in line and would find themselves standing tall before the man as well.

Overall a lot of people would have a very bad scientology day if we deiced that the accusation is legit. And we ourselves would probably go through several weeks of CMO-induced trauma, shouting and hysterical administrative nonsense.

In some sense the gator machine was slow, but one turned on and in full gear, it was just as cruel and indiscriminate as any other of Miscavige's tools. It would have dragged Danny in, crushed him, spat him out, then drag in his family and friends, proceed to crush them. Possibly it could also drag in the Jane does and their families and friends.
Hell, I'd probally would have enjoyed it all the damn way till the end.

Which is prolly why Dave kept such celebrity stuff away from us. The headcount would have been too high and the taste in CC and among Dave's good high paying and famous public would have been too bitter.

... So all of that obviously would never happen. Because DM would never let the continental gators take care of any "delicate" matter.

Yeah, I can also think of a few. But I think they're the exception rather than the rule. With the old-timers I think they're more willing to do anything, probably because the ones who were going to walk away or quit have already done so. Kind of wild how being willing to lie and go to extremes is a positive as far as Scientology is concerned, shows you the true nature of it.

Danny Masterson accuser admits to withholding information from LAPD to protect Church of Scientology (msn.com)

One of the three women accusing "That '70s Show" star Danny Masterson of sexual assault gave shocking testimony Friday and revealed what she left out of her original police report in an effort to protect the Church of Scientology and its leader.

The woman, who is being identified as "Jane Doe 1", wrapped up three days of grueling testimony admitting she initially held back information from the Los Angeles Police Department in 2004 claiming she wanted to protect the Church of Scientology and its leader David Miscavige.

As she shed tears on the stand, the woman said, "I thought maybe I wouldn't get in so much trouble for going to the police. Maybe I could report the crime and keep my family and my life."

"You have to remember that Jane Doe 1 was brought up in Scientology and it's a really totalitarian system," said editor of The Underground Bunker Tony Ortega, who's covering the trial. "You really believe that the Church of Scientology is the most important organization on Earth, and David Miscavige is the most important human being who lives, and a Scientologist would die rather than cause him problems. So even a rape victim, wanting to report the crime to the police, would be thinking, 'Now how do I do this without harming David Miscavige?' It's just incredible."

Jane Doe 1 went on to testify that her Scientology ethics officer Julian Schwartz instructed her to not use the word "rape" in a "knowledge report" she wrote about the alleged rape for the church and later gave to LAPD.

"Jane Doe 1 testified that Julian Schwartz told her that Danny Masterson could not have used a gun in the crime because Danny didn't own a gun. That turned out not to be true," said Ortega. "She said that Julian Swartz also told her to not use the 'R' word in her 2003 document and not to call it a rape because ... they don't do that in Scientology. So, she's describing a situation where she's trying to report what happened, but Scientology is blocking her."

The church said it has "no policy prohibiting or discouraging members from reporting criminal conduct of scientologists, or of anyone, to law enforcement" and that "church policy explicitly demands Scientologists abide by all laws of the land."

Seriously, has Danny had a sec check on this minimally? Has he been interrogated really?
I have no idea. I never saw his files.

What would be a guess?
I can't make one. I would imagine all his stuff is with some OSA unit entirely and no continental or local level regular ethics people had anything to do with him.

Julian is of course a 'special' exception and a frontman for OSA and legal when it comes to celebs. I know this now, but I really did not even know that much when I was inside. For me he was in many ways not a very successful scientologist. At the time I considered him a minor nobody and have not paid much attention to him.

I'm wondering whether anything at all was done. I believe it possible that such a celeb in this group might have special exemption due to his " value. "

wow, that's a short but hard hitting media piece. they use Tony Ortega talking very expertly, to explain how members' loyalty and fear can affect their interaction with outside authorities.

apparently they're the top news station in the LA market, so that's got to hurt....

I like to see this get broad publication, but it hurts. These women were wronged.
