Why is it so difficult to leave the church?

Ive been trying to leave the church for some time now, and i even went to the What is scientolgy web site or what ever to verify a human right and constitutional right regarding freedom of religion and free thought. As I assumed Mr micavage or some other RTC member states. Q " Can Scientologists come and go as members of the church if they wish? A " Certainly . Scientologists are free to be as active in participating in church services as they choose. Non practicing Scientologists in good standing may return to partake in religious services at anytime. If someone decides they no longer wish to be a member of the Church, they are free to leave."

Can a person come and go from scientology. It seems to be worded to make you feel that's the case but if you read between the lines it's put in a way where only members in good standing are permitted to leave but don't allow it. I've been trying to leave for some time now and don't think they will let me leave without some declare. It's bullshit. I've written RTC and my local church many times and basically writting a CSW to upper managment asking to be left alone. I'm sick of scientologists representing Human Rights on one side and abusing them dauntlessly on the other line.

You can leave. And they can tell their members that they should have no further contact with you.

And the members can then decide to either not talk to you, or leave with you.

Stop assuming you need their permission to leave. Just stop showing up.

If some keep calling you, just tell them to stop calling. It's really simple.

You can leave when you decide as they won't hold you physically( unless you are a sea org member)

But that doesn't mean they will respect this decision of your and leave younslonr
So you must expect daily phone calls and people knocking at you door trying to handle you pushing the fear button..Saving your endangered planet and your eternity...you must handle your ethics....

The real thing is that the org are starving and. Thus, need your money.

Once you decide you must stand up to those trying to have you back.

If it was I would be writting. But
thanks
Everything in war is very simple. But the simplest thing is difficult.
Meaning, just because it is simple to say "just leave", doesn't mean that they will accept it, and that you won't need to be firm.

Yeah as you stated, they won't hold you physically. The is also the mind and spirit. And they hold no legal contract to me through Scientology or some sea org member but I still am looking at it from that perspective.

But also is I've stated, we as beings on this planet have inalienable rights to free thoughts and religious beliefs. "Get out of my space" is not supposed to be some suppressive process.

I'm not sure what the problem is. To leave, you just stop participating, buying, going. What I believe you are asking is "How do I get Scientology to stop calling me without being declared 'suppressive'?"

If that's the question, I'm afraid I don't have a sure-fire answer. People who have left the church often have to start screening their phone calls to avoid that very situation.

But I have to ask: So what? If you no longer believe or want to participate in Scientology, what do you care what they do? Do you have friends and/or family who are Scientologists? If not, being "declared SP" will not affect you life in the least.

That's true. I've disconnected from at least 20 scientologists from facebook and email. I dissconnected from an old SP that brought me into Scientology. But I realized on the PTS/SP course your choice is one or the other. LRH didn't speak about the choices scientologists have, besides white/ black and the grey hats.
I'm not a CCRD Clear but know what LRH is talking about. though, Miscavage's version is of course miscavages version. I believe as a green member you are PTS, and when you go clear you choose to side with miscavage or not. So you are PTS when you walk in, and an SP when you walk out.
Highly suppressive when you consider the amount of people who may have been sent there. Other determinism is other determinism.

As Bill noted, if your real question is "How can I stop participating without having them order my Scientologist friends/relatives to disconnect from me", that's a tricky business.

If you don't care if other Scientologists stop talking to you, you can just do things like tell callers "Is it OK with you if I record this call? My Psychiatrist want to find out more about you".

There are ENDLESS ways to have fun messing with their heads.

Also, if you get a call from somebody you know in Scientology, you can just tell them "Save my number. If you ever decide you want to leave, just call me and I'll help you."

You WILL stop getting calls at that point.

Geez the reverse implant. Slight gentle cause! lmao
I've been reviewing how restimulation works and I think that the lack of ethics and integrity inhibits most scientologists and SO members from legally doing anything besides selling emeters and books and book reading spaces for OTs and such.

Fuzy - (I'm giving you a nickname :) ) - Is your main concern getting Scientologists to leave you alone or are you also questioning some of the concepts and beliefs you have from Scientology? Concerning the latter, everyone eventually sorts out true from false and fact from fiction in their own mind. In my opinion much of what Hubbard said and wrote about is just a description of human behavior and like the old saying goes nobody is smart enough to be wrong 100% of the time.

And by the way, I believe you are the very first person to show up on this new forum asking for some advice on how to exit Scientology. Congratulations!

P.S. What's a book reading space for OTs? Are you joking or is that something real? I'm guessing it's satire but I was history in 1982 and have no idea what DM is selling these days.

I do love philosophy and the study courses and such did help me get of my ass a bit. But I'm a bit upset on how I've seen members get treated.
I have my own stories and what not but I believe I have more beef with Miscavage and his version of this than with LRH.
And the book reading for OTs was a bit of sarcasm.

Why is it so difficult to leave?

Because you will have to accept that all of your beliefs, your hopes, goals, your social circle - all of that will be gone. Because you will have to build a new life from scratch. It's the most difficult thing - to disconnect from everything and everyone you know and let go. It may take years or decades to completely leave, but if that's what you want to do... One day, you will realize that your crossed that long dark bridge and are now far enough to barely see where it started. You will never look back.

Leaving was the best decision I have made in my life after being in for 15 years.

You can do it!

The first step is getting a job with a non-Scientology company (if you work with Scientologists).

The next step is to cultivate friends outside Scientology.

Scientology very deliberately encourages people to work for Scientologists. It makes it easier to keep people in that way.

Once they lose the ability to affect your work career, they lose much of their power over you.
