It'll all be back. There are vaccines now, though we won't get them 'til next year.New York may not be "dead" in the sense that it still has residents, but it is in deep trouble which may be terminal.
Entertainment is a big part of the NYC experience. Why do people want to visit there? Why live there and pay sky high rents?
People like being able to attend plays and concerts, check out new bands in some hole in the wall place, eat a nice meal in an environment where there are dozens of good restaurants within walking distance, go check out a museum or the big library, etc, etc.
If that is not available, then there is no incentive to be there and put up the with the pathologies of the city.
And indoor dining at restaurants is allowed now in NYC, at 25% capacity.
