It does take accepting "a bit" of poetic license to give credence to such things.

po·et·ic li·cense
  1. the freedom to depart from the facts of a matter or from the conventional rules of language when speaking or writing in order to create an effect.
"he used a little poetic license to embroider a good tale.
Probably Ron wasn't invisible. Maybe just blurry or something.
Which is the true believer: one that just doesn't know the whole story, or one that knows the truth on the inside but passes the story along anyway?

"When you can solve the koan, Grasshopper, then you can leave."

That's from the Kung Fu show when Master Po tells Caine (Grasshopper), "When you can grab the pebble from my hand, then you can (or must?) leave."

Seriously though, in the 1970s auditor training was streamlined. You read the basic theory behind the processes, drilled them and then audited them. There was no pre reading "Basic Books" or delving into the more arcane parts of the subject. It's too long ago for me to remember exactly and maybe I'm dubbing it in that I didn't buy into bullshit or tall tales. Whatever I did buy into I think I just glossed over it with, "Who knows - maybe - I'll find out later." Haha

In Buddhist lore it's said that when the Buddha sent monks out to spread the word he told them, "Some will listen. Some will come."

Lol - I was making a joke in response to Dotey OT's koan like question. I'm not sure if Master Po asked Grasshopper to solve any koans. Probably. 🤔

Speaking of koans, another tale from Buddhist lore is that the headmaster of a Buddhist monastery was retiring and in order to pick a successor he wrote a koan on a wall and the monk writing the best solution would be appointed the new headmaster. A lowly acolyte wrote down his solution and when the headmaster realized the acolyte had provided the best solution he quickly sent him running. The older monks would have munched him when they found out a lowly acolyte had beaten them out

That story and most of my knowledge about Buddhism comes from my favorite reference book about Buddhism called "Buddhism: A Way of Life and Thought" by Nancy Wilson Ross. It has a full glossary and index, is easy reading and is available in paperback reprint for $15.

Probably some exes have a story of a Sea Ogre claiming rank because of time spent in rather than "perspicacity." "You don't have the rank!" Military life was not for me so I never considered joining the Sea Org.

I've been in the USAF and the S.O. - I doubt I'd even call the S.O. military life. I'd venture to say that as psychotic as the USAF is, it's not as crazy as the S.O.

I used to read those books of koans. I think some lose something in translation. I also used to read the death poems.

Not all forms of Buddhism employ the Zen with it's koans. Some don't solicit adherents at all.

In battle it was handy for a warrior to achieve a state of 'no mind'. No event or thought had bearing upon the present moment.....or future. There's only NOW.

Like Zertel said, Tech training got filled with 'arcane' stuff to remember.

The tech of the 50s was about how fast can I create a cleared theta clear. No time track, or much use for it.

LRH might have fallen into bad company with bad karma. He claimed to have arrived in this local matrix 8200 years ago. His son, Nibs thought he walked..... on the dark side of the magic.

>>>>>>>>>>>

On the Dianetics course we had clay demos of incidental time track and I made those 'splits' where new beings entered into the time stream or divided from their original source. I thought, maybe there's 'holders' that keep these twains separate as individuals after entering. Or maybe it's pure postulate. Separate-ness may be illusiory but it has real consequences

In a 1983 Penthouse interview LRH Jr described his dad's involvement with the dark arts. Adepts can reach across and sledgehammer, to crack wide open the mind of another to inhale the being within. He said it was known as soul cracking and said this black magic was older than Egypt. Nibs said his dads' Scientology did this. So there's a liability in losing the mental wrapping/ cocoon.... and also a liability in having one?

I saw that prep for OT 8 was reading, History of Man and those 8-08 books so you acclimate your thinking towards theta line splits. I've had those EPs in satori and there doesn't seem to be any liability or unmock from losing connections to your INDIVIDUAL mind or track. No bogeyman swoops in to devour any vulnerable nut meats....and cabal from outside this universe. No ravenous Borg. Yet, it seems some of this might have existed in some parallel universe long ago, and maybe Ron kicked a hornet's nest.

In a satori experience I had many years ago which lasted for about a day I was experiencing that current lifetime is quite irrelevant with a certainty that "I" as some form of consciousness would certainly continue. I decided to put the feeling to the test as I was sitting on the couch in my living room. I mocked up someone opening the door and rolling in a bomb with a short fuse burning on it. I just laughed out loud, since in that state of mind I would simply haved watch with curiosity and interest as the bomb blew my body and the house to kingdom come.

If a bomb rolled in my door right now I'd run like Hell!

You're funny.

I've always noticed that Zen monks do appreciate life and their current life experience. There's affinity for occupying their space in present time. No nihilism. Life IS important, and they display deep sadness over the passing of friends.

re: Hubbard's personality:
In the conversations I had with Hubbard I came to realize he is definitely playing a game, HIS GAME. Which sort of answers the question, does he believe his own Shit?
Yes. I believe he does.

You ONLY have worth to him in how you can forward HIS GAME, not yours. They have to co-incide, you have to be 'on-board.'

He would do a lot for you, help you, etc....... even make you a "rising star" in the $cn. cult - which was dangled in front of me. But it ALL has to be in the framework of his game. You have to be 'a piece' in it.

I refused.
When you do that you have no further use to him. It's almost like you do not exist.

Why me?
He enjoyed talking to me. I was not a bum-sucking toady yes-man over-awed by his presence.
And I made him laugh with a hella funny joke.
Also I think he figured I could be of a lot of use to him and the cult... IF I was 'on-board.'

Nope. Not happening.
