Clearing The Planet

EXCERPT:
It’s a catchphrase in scientology. “We are clearing the planet.” “We are making planetary clearing a reality.” There are a dozen different variations.

It’s a time-honored hot button that is used to get people to hand over money and “progress up the Bridge.” One of our readers sent this new promo piece to me recently, with some comments that made me think we should address this topic again.

I liked this Rinder post, mostly for this comment:
Contributor excerpt:
"I once talked to someone about their OT 8 experience and they didn’t have much to say
about OT 8 specifically, or their wins specifically. It was all general rah-rah crap, and I looked
at this person and I said, once you become OT 8 does that mean you have to do even more?
This person got a really hunted look on their face and they didn’t say anything and then they
pointed out that they had been encouraged to make the OT Committee more active in our area.
The raw, unhappy look on the face of this person who probably didn’t realize they were revealing
how disastrous this demand was, never left me."

I had many similar moments over a span of a couple decades
and finally attested to being an "ex." Took a while. I had the
fatal flaw of believing I was a tad more well trained and
smarter than those folks I'd spoken with. They might not have
"made it" all the way, but I'll make it because I worked harder
and had a better grasp of the subject. I could do it. They didn't.
I was tech trained, they weren't.

I remember getting an advanced reading copy of Lawrence
Wright's book, Going Clear, and was pouring through it. I hit
the last chapter, the Sarge reveal.

At the time, I had been chatting to one of ESMB's members
on the phone regularly. He had worked with and known LRH
over many years.

I called him and he was driving on the road. I told him to pull
over, that I had something I wanted to read to him. I read him
the last chapter, the Sarge reveal. He was obviously surprised,
but not as much as I was. He had seen Ron being Ron up close
for years and did not have my misguided and distanced reverence.

Trust me, I was thoroughly stunned deep down. Stunned lasted
about three months. I went into a funk for those months, as I
remember. Realized that I had wasted my youthful adult years
on a fantasy with no big outcome coming. Dark night of the soul.

After a while, I recreated my life, Lisbeth 2.0. I got over it and
moved on. What else can you do? Fortunately, I had some good
luck. Life has been good, very good, ever since.

Oh, what I would tell the young me now, if I could. :coolwink:

Been there, done that,

I think everyone in the SO has that to some degree, especially in management or OSA... and don't even get me started on the CMO.
