Body asleep while you're awake

Explorations during this state can sometimes lead to amazing places.

It is a state largely ignored by Scientology.
Somewhere on the internet I came across a site, I think it was Ron's Org, where there were over twenty "OT Processes" or levels listed and awake while asleep was one of them. IIRC he was investigating it with uncertain results at the time. No doubt there are "mental exercises" which might be attempted in the hope of developing extrasensory or paranormal abilities for people interested in such things.

I only briefly browsed over the processes on that site. I didn't do any scn OT levels but one time I was reading over one of the scn OT levels on the internet and by reading and "thinking about" a process I found myself running it! No thank you. I quickly backed out - lol

I've only had that happen once and it was while living in a clam flop house. I found myself listening to two of my roommates talking on the landing just outside my door and the bathroom door. I listened for a bit then tried to move but my body wouldn't budge. I seemed to be perceiving it from just a foot or so away and try as I might I just couldn't cause any response so I drifted back to sleep. Later that morning I asked the two guys if they had been talking about, whatever it was, and they said yes they had. I think I had slid out of the drivers seat for a bit while in a twilight state.

". . . slid out of the drivers seat for a bit . . ." reminded me of something. About two years ago I needed to run a quick errand. I got in my car and as I was pulling out of the driveway I felt like a passenger in the car I was driving. I was located about a foot behind and a foot to the right of "the body". The body was doing nicely with the driving so I enjoyed the ride until I got to my destination five minutes later and when I turned off the engine I was properly relocated between my ears. It was a short lived experience but rather trippy and memorable.

Scientologists spend big money trying to be exterior with full perception but I always thought that was far fetched. I was only hoping or expecting I'd develop one or two extrasensory perceptions.

And it's a shame that so many are still paying off their Scientology loans well after having left the cult entirely behind without getting much of anything that was promised, actually, it seriously breaks my heart and I bleed for them.
I like to see what we are seeing from one another in all these posts that the inner spark to shake off our shackles and find the truth is still alive in the majority of us because we are not getting any younger and it seems wise to prepare ourselves for the coming journey that we'll face whether we want to or not as it's an inevitability.
Somehow we got on this conveyor belt of life through time and somehow we'll be getting off.
And it often happens when one least expects it as in "what the F***, I'm DEAD????? Noooo, I need to go back and tie up loose ends and say goodbye."
Nope, it's done.
Not that I've ever had a death fixation but hitting 65 a couple of months ago has opened my eyes to the fact I don't have so many years left anymore and I have to really decide where and how I wish to spend those years.

I've had many an experience with sleep paralysis where I'm aware but can't move my body. The harder I try to move my body the more locked it becomes. The only way to get out of it is to relax and let it be and it resolves itself in short time. It's also accompanied by weird hallucinations and false impressions of the environment.

That's exactly where I found myself, behind but off to the right and I lacked the "OT" abilities to alter my position. I was just strangely stuck there so I thought if I just fell back asleep the situation would resolve itself, and it did. I've never knowingly been out again in any shape or form. I saw a definition of "exterior" recently on one of these sites where it was simply described as being too big for one's head. I don't agree with the definition because though your perimeter is out, your center is still in. If that's a valid definition of being exterior then I'd have to say that I was constantly exterior for years but I disagree with the definition personally as I see that as a disassociative state.

Sheesh... I'm actually paraphrasing Hubbard's Tech Dict.

"Def.#3 of Exterior: act of moving away... "

not out per se, as in Boise while your body is in Seattle, etc.

If my short lived "out of body" experience had happened while I was sitting on my back porch I probably would have tested it to see if I could do some astral planing or something. As it was I wasn't going to trust "the body" to not get me in a wreck while "it" was driving so I stayed close - lol

Stuff you can only talk about on a scientology forum without someone thinking you're nuts - lol

Exteriorization can also be/is even the slightest moving away from the body - doesn't have to be "out" and away from it.

I know this not because I'm some expert on Hubb's Tech Dict. but because an auditor cleared the def. rather throughly with me in a session way back in the day.

An example. say you get some great news and you all of a sudden feel "bigger." There ya go. As per Def #3 that is also Ext.

I'm not a study tech/dictionary lover by any means. I go by what makes sense to me, not the guy making $12.50 an hour to write word definitions for Merriam Websters nor the guy making $12.50 a week to ghost write clam word definitions for L. Ron Hubbard.
So, to the point, if one is still centered in the body regardless if his thetan boundaries are beyond the bodies boundaries or not he's still centered in the body even though his spiritual extremities are not totally within. He's still very much trapped and isn't going anywhere because he's still stuck. What you're talking about is the "being is too big for his head" crap that they fed people about OT3 where one would supposedly be too big for one's head after running imaginary incidents.
You apparently think if your toes stick out from your shoes that your foot is exterior to your shoes. Or that if you can wave your arm out of your jail cell that you've escaped.
Some would say that's a purely disassociative state of mind to feel as though one's floating while one's still very much in his head.
I've never cared what some Ronbot word clearer's definition is or was.
Exterior is being out and not just having your thetan toes sticking out while you're still very much stuck inside your head.
There are no degrees of exteriorization that are quantified to where if you have 51% out that means you're exterior! It's all or nothing, anything less is a lie.
Sometimes one has to pull one's head out of a dictionary or whatever else and take a real look for oneself.
If they stretched their definition of "exterior" after I left in the late 70's to make people think they'd achieved the promised states of being they paid hundreds of thousands for by adding the weak "def. 3", well that's just as pathetic as everything else they've done. Such as quickying the grades, handing out past life clear, natural clear certs bla de bla when no one really went clear anyway because there was no reactive mind. What a farce it mostly was.

I did one of those online tests that asks you a bunch of questions and then based on your answers tells you how long you've got to live. I found out that I died back in 2017.

If there's one question I definitely do not want to know the answer to, it's how much longer I have to live. As soon as you have that information you're going to start counting down the days, weeks and months. A nightmare! No thanks.

In Buddhist lore there are stories about monks dying while sitting, standing and even one about a master dying while standing on his head. He remained in that position and was creating a sensation until his sister who was a Buddhist nun showed up and while expressing annoyance at her show off brother knocked the corpse over and ordered his Buddhist brothers to carry it off to the burial ground. That one is probably an exaggeration.

That story came from my favorite reference book about Buddhism called "Buddhism: A Way of Life and Thought" by Nancy Wilson Ross which is available in paperback reprint for $10.

Yes and if I added that ignorance is bliss when it comes to when one's life will end I feel that I'd be invalidating something about it. But not knowing certain things can be somewhat of a necessity sometimes because I wouldn't want to know that on Jan 10, 2023 I croak because it would be on my mind every day till then and I'd rather enjoy what time I have left!

No, I wasn't joking. That's what is in there, or words to that effect.
I have no great investment in that being right.
