"Scientology saved my life."

One occasionally encounters people who think Scientology saved their lives, or saved their sanity.

Sometimes, even after leaving the organization, their judgement of Scientology is impaired.

Should we just leave them alone?

Scientology saved my life

From the secret "blueprint for Scientology," the "Brainwashing Manual."

"It is pointed out in many early Russian writings that this is a survival mechanism. Its has already been well and thoroughly used [as a mechanism] in the survival of Communism [Scientology]."

Absolutely ... their judgement (of the scientology that they were involved in) may not be impaired at all.

However, if they proceed to try and sell it or promote it here ... all bets are off.

:)

PS That was a polite way of saying I couldn't give a toss what people believe in as long as they don't try and ram it (back) down the throats of people who have 'de-culted' from it or are in the process of doing so.

It's like putting a long wood screw into a plank without drilling
a hole first. (Yes, I've done that around the house.) It's a lot of
work getting the screw to go in all the way. Usually a lot of work
to get it out later.

Even for me, the sci ideas took a while to extract out all the way.
A long while. They were cemented in pretty good.

I will take the liberty of going outside of Scientology just to make a point.
I have a friend who has a life many of us would admire. She and her husband work for high end financial firms, they have a beautiful home and she herself is drop dead gorgeous. I will call her Savannah.
So she is driving off the 101 ramp in Los Angeles but the ramp is jammed so she is held up between cars til traffic can move, and she observes a paper bag that had been tossed just off the ramp. It had been taped shut with duct tape. The paper bag was moving ! Something trapped inside..she thought.
Jumping out of the car she grabbed the paper bag and made it home.
Inside was a puppy ! It did not look well
She took the puppy to the vet. Bad news. It had Parvo. often life-threatening, many dogs do not survive it due to the damage to intestines and bone marrow.
Savannah was ADAMANT to save its life. Hospitalization is complicated and is under the expense of advanced critical care. High end costs for high end medicine. They even brought into a dog that had survived Parvo t into the clinic that had survived Parvo for its plasma and anti-bodies.
Dog was not responding. Comatose. The costs were $1000 a day and counting. The fluids were given in a drip with the very latest in canine medicine and 20 days had gone by. The dog looked like it would succumb and the Vet said to her
"That's it, we are billing you $20,000 for a deceased canine. No more keeping it alive."
Well, you would have to know Savannah to see how well that went over. Rushing down to the vet in person she persuaded the Vet with great charm to allow just 2 more days. As luck would have it, on day 22 it came out of its semi-comatose state and it was all downhill from then on.
Savannah and her husband just LOVE this animal. It is their child.
Savannah has never belonged to any cult. She never has had any *counseling* or therapy and is an example of how a human being can have compassion, empathy, kindness without " BRIDGE " and any enforced Matrix or Construction cooked up by someone else. Successful, dynamic riding high with no religious ties at all.
Savannah was recently offered a top gun job at Merrill Lynch that was a breathtaking opportunity BUT she is not going to re-locate away from Griffith Park.
The little saved puppy turned out to be GREAT DANE
God bless the hearts of those Never Ins that are the salt of the earth !

"SAVING A LIFE" isn't some transient *WIN* or cognition that is a"feel good" for a while ~~ which is what those who say Scn did for them.
Saving a Life is something done with humongous compassion, even sometimes self-sacrifice but above all a lot of LOVE

The keywords in handling Staff and Sea org members is Domination, Punishment (Courts of Ethics, Committees of Evidence) hierarchical thuggery, and submission.
Love is unheard of.

Well, ya know I was thinking about this same subject earlier. It would seem that the "theme" of the forum is "X Scientologists", however upon casual inspection it seems that there are a few categories of people here:

a) I've been duped, and I'll never be duped by anything like this again.
b) Some of it seemed to make sense, ya know, other than the abuse and all
c) Victims, victims... look at the trail of victims
d) We are trying to be independant and apply the tech in a way that we think was intended
e) I'll expose their crimes and show the truth
f) I can reason with them
g) I'm just here for the lulz, I can't believe anyone involved in the past still gives a rat's ass.

I wonder if there is a newer more permissive definition of "Scientologist" that includes partial believers. I'm ok with believe what you like, say what you like, but as you pointed out, this is probably the wrong venue to be pontificating about the virtues of it, either by association or innuendo. I realize there are people here that probably have little or no direct experience, or are looking for information to foment turmoil,
or the idle curiosity seeker, or those that were looking for a part for a BMW S1000XR and clicked the wrong link... it's an odd mix.
My theory is that we have, to an extent, a common bond that is somewhat unique in all the world, but our experiences vary widely, our reactions vary widely... but still, a lot of this stuff would not fly as conversation at the bowling alley, or on breaks from jury duty. So who can you discuss this stuff with? Certainly not Scientologists in "good standing", they would run in fear I think. I love to hear stories of how people came to and left and why. I'm less interested in stories about who did what to whom and are looking for some imagined "justice". But still, I have a drawer for that category, I just don't have time to care at all. I had very close friends while I was in, and I do very much miss their company and friendship. To me, it was never specifically about what they believed or didn't in Scientology, it was always about who they were. It's a small boat we share on a very big ocean.
Funny story for ya. I was at a motorcycle rally BBQ, Hell's Angels, rival clubs.... pretty spicey mix. There was a group of "Bikers for Jesus" there.
I commented to the couple sitting next to me what a ridicuous idea.... Bikers for Jesus. Guy turns to me and says, "ya, that's us". Awkward silence for a moment and I said, "So what's the deal?" He explained that they were indeed Christians and they were proud of who they were and what they believed and then asked me the $10,000. question: "Do you believe in Free Will?" My reply.... "That is a good question." He seemed satisifed that I had given it some thought, and shook my hand. Still... I mean.... did Jesus really ride a Harley? I had him pegged for more the bicycle type.

I LOL when I read the Thread title because after my life blew up and I lost everything and everyone due to LRH's Scientology Confusion Tech (all cleverly designed so you become broke, alone and confused so Scientology can have total control over you)
I would parrot those Scientology robots I saw in the video at the events. They would repeat over and over "Scientology saved my Life" so the implant finally worked. I would tell other Scientologists -
"Scientology saved my life"

CRINGE!

Wow! 109 years old!
LOL!

Yeah, Don looks really amazing for his age, right?

He said the secret is that his twin, Ron, discovered in 1962 that beings only get wrinkles from not smoking enough.

Wow, I had no idea, LOL.

I don't watch tv programming so I had never heard of her before.

But at least now i got the answer to my question. . .

Ethnicity: German, as well as English and Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, 1/16th French.

I think the 1/16th french DNA must have charmed me, lol.

Wow, I had no idea, LOL.
I also don't watch tv but google image search does the job quite well.

Also, not sure if Karen meant Reeser. In her post she talks about a woman being married. On the wiki page it says Reeser is divorced. And Reeser is an actress while Karen talks about someone in the financial sector.

(When using Google Chrome, right click on a picture and choose image search from the menu.

On other browsers you may have to first save a picture to e.g. your downloads map and then upload it in Google Images )

Helluva Hoax ~~ I took an image that very closely resembles her to hide her identity as I had mentioned where she worked and given out other private information.

She is truly as beautiful inside and out.

Few people would spend $20,000 on a dying canine. So I was trying to get the point across of the outrageous claims of SCN "Saving a Life" HOTAIR

In the 1970s, at the Flag Land Base, I befriended a bunch of stray Clearwater cats that lives at the back of the Grey Moss and I fed them with kitchen leftovers. Not being allowed to have pets, I *adopted* strays so so speak through the late 1970s, early 1980s
When the cult purchased the GREY MOSS property, the cats were rounded up, trapped and euthanised. SCN does not save lives at all.
Scn KILLs.

during this pandemic we have empty malls, empty Ideal Orgs, empty Super Power Building at Flag Land Base, probably empty OT8 ship too.

The only thing not empty is IAS regs selling donating money to the shell corporation known as the IAS thru Zoom videos by Tom Cummins and Sara Baxter, LOL.

What a racket.
