Hello, 2 months ago I decided to leave Scientology. I am still under the radar, so do not want to give any identifiable information, but I did want to introduce myself.

Thank you! I might take you up on that sometime.Hi! A Big warm welcome. If you need any help, let me know.
It was a slow process of things adding up over 8 years or so.What made you decide to leave?
Do you know, I actually don't remember the last straw right now. If I think of it I'll let you know. It definitely was a slow process over 8 or 10 years. I'll tell you one of the last straws was how scientologists have been treating Covid: as a hoax, hysteria, etc. (Which is funny, because their fearful leader has been putting forward those "stay well" pamphlets.)Hello and welcome.
Sure, if you want to stay under the radar then by all means don't share any info that might help identify you. Having said that, I'm looking forward to your participation in the discussions here. I'd love to get some first hand information how things are looking nowadays.
There's many things we can talk about without involving our personal details.
Out of curiosity, what was the final straw that got you out? Was it a sudden event or was it a slow process of gaining more and more suspicions over the years?
Are most people in your area now 2nd gen and elderly scientologists? Or are there any 20s-30s people who are not second gen?
I think most of us here left scientology quite some time ago so any info on the current situation is interesting to us. We know the current membership of the CoS is almost certainly less than 20,000 in total but they still seem able to convince their members that they are expanding. It's quite a trick.Do you know, I actually don't remember the last straw right now. If I think of it I'll let you know. It definitely was a slow process over 8 or 10 years. Yes, most people are 2nd gen or elderly. Occasionally I've met a 3rd gen Scientologist, but that is very rare. I did meet a few 20's-30's who were new recruits to scientology, but again that's pretty rare.
The Ideal orgs are quite empty, which was one of my straws. I traveled a decent amount, and when I was drinking the kool-aid I loved to go hit up the org in the city I visited. Always pretty desolate.
Thank you! Love the avatar.Welcome
I do hope it will be. I always think of that "What's going on" song when I see He-man. It's a good association.May the force be with you.
Always.
Yeah it's amazing how much they can lie to you about membership and other "expansion". It seems like it's happening because such nice big buildings are opening up.I think most of us here left scientology quite some time ago so any info on the current situation is interesting to us. Welcome!! I am UTR as well. Tell as much as you want, but leave out the details that might allow others to figure it out.Yeah it's amazing how much they can lie to you about membership and other "expansion". It seems like it's happening because such nice big buildings are opening up.
I think it has a lot to do with the assumption that the church or David Miscavige wouldn't lie to you. It's a hard assumption to shift, even after the church--reges, DofPs, etc. have in fact lied to you time and time again and you found out.

I entirely get that, my own process took over two decades... pretty much my whole life up till the point I left.Do you know, I actually don't remember the last straw right now. Thanks for the feedback. That was pretty much what I expected to see by projecting forward the trends I saw when I was still in. Glad to hear an empirical confirmation that this is in fact the case.Yes, most people are 2nd gen or elderly. Occasionally I've met a 3rd gen Scientologist, but that is very rare. Good to hear the Ideal Orgs are empty. No more people getting hurt.Do you know, I actually don't remember the last straw right now. If I think of it I'll let you know. So true! It's 1-800-CONSPIRACY over there.I entirely get that, my own process took over two decades... pretty much my whole life up till the point I left.
As for COVID reactions: Well, scientologists always had a flair for conspiracy wingnuttery and tinfoilism. Its even visible in a lot of the indie movement.
