My appearance today on the Dr Joy Show, I'm interviewed about Scientology

Desperate to marginalize me much? How pathetic of you.
Sorry the video was unplayable, but a better link will be available sometime soon, or you can find it on my facebook. If you watch, you'll notice that quite a few people were calling in.

It's not a question of marginalising you my dear fellow but you've already concurred that you have no academic training as regards counselling of any kind and the only evidence of any positive results you are supplying us with is anecdotal. There is no yardstick by which to measure the effectiveness of what you are doing, so the grandiose claims you make have no substantive basis.

Added to that, you make your appearance on this show sound like a big deal whereas, as my last post has shown, it is very far from it.

OK you troll, let's factually address your BS comments:
(1) Once again, you attack me for "No academic training" here, despite the fact that this has no bearing whatsoever with the subject of this video. So, you expose yourself as a troll and a hater, pure and simple.
(2) You lie about me to justify your other lies here- "You make your appearance on this show sound like a big deal" aside from the obvious response of "WTF does that even mean?", I simply posted the video without comment. How is that "making it sound like a big deal"? Purely troll activity on your part. I can't so much as share a video expressing what I have to say about Scientology without you fictionalizing.
(3) You could have done actual research on Dr. Joy and her show, in which case you would see evidence that she and the show have a strong local following, but that would not have belittled me. You cherry-picked what you could use in your transparent and vicious effort to belittle me.

I don't know you, and I don't know what else you do with your life, and you may well have admirable attributes, accomplishments and activities. I assume that there must be some contexts in which you're "a good guy"; but here, in the context of this place, you're being nothing other than a nasty lying little troll. I'm sure that in your mind, you fancy that you're getting some kind of love from people viewing this, but your comments are undeserving of attention of any kind, and not at all the way that you'd want to be treated. Imagine being the best version of yourself, and compare it with your attitude and behavior here. Is that who you really want to be? If so, kindly go play with someone else. Thanks.

Good interview.

In regards of a topic you discussed, you perhaps might be interested in the works of Peter Levine and somatic experiencing; Some of your explanations seems to meet with his discoveries.

I have his books and gave a try. It all makes sense.

Well, I don't know mate, you can pour on the ad hom attacks and insult me all you like, the fact remains that scientology processing has long ago been debunked (apart from the possibility of some transient relief after communicating about issues and problems in life on the lower levels) and here you are trying to polish that turd and sell it. As far as I can tell, most of the people here have moved on - or are attempting to - and what you are trying to do is drag them back into the hole that they've painfully dragged themselves out of. Good luck with that.

Finally, let people read my posts addressed to you and then compare them with your vitriolic responses and let people decide which one of us is a 'hater'.

A couple of minutes into the interview, you describe Dianetics and go into Hubbard's failings in his early Dianetics days.

Then you go on into how you've apparently fixed things so as to have a workable technology. And you get upset over people laughing at you over this.

You are correct, this was probably not the best place to come to, if you want to troll for PCs. Not many people here believe it's likely that polishing a turd results in anything good, no matter how much effort you put into it.

In order to "counsel the person in front of you" you would need experience in counselling people in some format and methodology. Other than traditional education in college or university psychology classes where would someone go to get this training and experience? In scientology there was step by step auditor training and a person might become a good auditor in less than a year of intensive training. At least that was the case before DM took over and apparently auditors are now robotic. Going to a scientology field group to get counselling/auditing experience in order to start a different type of "practice" would be deceptive and probably wouldn't work anyhow.

For what ever reason auditing does stir up things. In the COS the primary purpose now is to get you to keep making donations. In and indie group or setting this may or may not be true but I worry many of the things brought up and not handled are better off left alone. In other words i feel you are playing with fire. Maybe if you are already there and need help it could be of value. i dont want to get into where the best source of help might be. Probably different places for different people.

Cut and pasted from another thread:

Gut feeling tells me its as much the sirens call of going clear coupled with the time already invested in it. I don't think most "auditors" consider the damage they may cause or believe they are ripping people off. I hold that to be more true if the person in question believes in the whole "Psych" conspiracy.

I guess that in some cases, money comes into play. I'd imagine this to be more true if, instead of getting an education, you spent your formative years in Scientology.

I think the good news is that most people don't.

That's a pretty good summation.

Have you listened to the video? It seems to take it one step further.

The web auditor says: "I'm using LRH tech as it was written before the '60s, while he was still very enthusiastic, before he started getting bitter, unhappy, and things like that."

Can't tell if this person is being diplomatic to another auditor who is of a more conventional mind set, and refraining from saying something on the order of, "Hubbard probably had a self serving hidden agenda all along but was surrounded, during the 1950s, by some bright and innovative people, from whom he borrowed much. These were people interested in contributing to a layman oriented movement. Gradually, the brightest and most innovative people left, and the movement became a cult."

Probably, this person is not being diplomatic and is simply stating what he believes - still, it's a step in the right direction, IMO.

This "layman oriented movement," during its early years, had, as one of it inspirations, the writings of Alfred Korzybski, who wanted his subject, which he called General Semantics, to be studied and applied by any intelligent person, including the intelligent layman.

This short video ends abruptly but summarizes nicely
Korzybski's main message.

The idea was that the "ordinary" person should be able to think and evaluate clearly, and behave rationally, without being dependent on any bureaucracy or priesthood.

_______________
At one time the categories of the Message Board started, at the bottom, with "Freezone, Indy, and other Flavors of Scientology" and, above that, was "Human potential, Self discovery."

Probably, at the very bottom, should be "Cults in general."

In any event, these categories, and those above them, offered places where a person could "land," or arrive, at the Message Board.

As I understand it, one of the functions of the Message Board was to be a place where such persons could "land" - and communicate - while having some doubts about parts of Scientology while still being adherents of parts of Scientology. Usually, in such an environment, people change.

The balancing act is being able to practice tolerance while maintaining the nature of the Message Board.

Dexter, You posted a vid that for some reason or other cannot be viewed. So how am I or anyone else to know what it is or isn't stated on it?

If you want a separate section for Independent Scientology and Scientology-related offshoots practices promotion, then send a note to PirateAndBum, who is the Admin, to request it. It may or may not happen, but you can ask.

This is, after all, an EX-Scientology Board. EX means members who left Scientology, so promoting Scientology doesn't fit well with the whole theme. Surely you can see that?

For some reason the video doesn't play starting at 0:00 but jumping forward a bit and then starting it works. I jumped around and listened to parts of it but it's a familiar discussion about Scn to me. It might be of interest to someone newly interested in Scn. It would probably better fit under flavors of Scn but no big deal at least to me. I prefer watching videos on youtube where you can use the settings tool to speed up the playback.
