Tales from AOLA, Mike Silverman, RPF, etc

I was walking through the MAA's office to check the outer door when a "CSW" on her desk caught my eye. It was a CSW to send me to the RPF. Here I was, the single person responsible, at that moment, for all the security of the AOLA delivery building, being sent to the RPF the next day. Kind of blew my mind.

I decided I'd rather be declared and kicked out. I don't know if I would have stuck with that decision because, for some unknown reason, I was never actually sent to the RPF.
Maybe something happened to the CSW and it never made it to the MAA? :coolwink: :D

In 1983, I arrived at AOLA from the East Coast ( FCDC) as Public....to do 1-3.

Nicole Sims was my reg.....

I read her name mentioned above in a post....and was wondering if anyone knows why she left the SO.

I guess this was years later....but don't recall the time frame.

As Public....I didn't have all the insider info you SO did....

Also was aware that her husband, Harold, the OT3 sup at the time had been sent to Flag for some training.....and some snafu happened. But again, I don't know what.

So, I think they both left....but don't know for sure.

Years later, I saw Nicole driving a nice Corvette in some business parking lot off Sunset Blvd in Hollywood.....but didn't get to say hi.

When I got to LA and AOLA.....I ended up renting Steve Miller's couch/living room....for a place to stay. Ended up being there for years.
He was a non-SO Qual guy at AOLA.

Edited: Use to see Mike Silverman all the time in the AO lobby. He use to promote that people get into Trading Commodity Futures.....to make a lot of money to get up the bridge.....( at least that is what I heard. ) Never saw any magic tricks.....

Anyway....was just wondering about Nicole Sims....and what happened at AOLA. And what happened with Harold at Flag.

Well, there is photographic proof. There I am, always in the far back, never paying attention. Yep! Hated those musters.

That was a special muster after post hours to ordain some of us as "ministers." Doing the Minister's Course and getting ordained were targets on an emergency program to circumvent trouble with immigration/visas. I am Canadian.

It was also a crash program for us citizens, when military conscription was brought back under President Jimmy Carter.

The Nicole deal is a long story.

Here's the Cliff Notes version of what I know. There may be more I don't know.

Harold was at Flag training. I think he went around 1989 or so. He was gone a LONG time. After he was gone around a year Nicole started wigging out, primarily about her marriage. Ivan tried to get Harold to come back so he and Nicole could work things out but Harold was not permitted to go. This was another Bitty Miscavige directive. (Those of you who have read my posts over the years know I'm a big fan of hers... :cautious:)

There were FSMs that used to hang out in the reg offices. One guy named Brian Haney used to hang out in Nicole's office all the time. She started going out after post time with him. Somehow I think she was going to the gym? I don't know why I think that. Anyway, long story short, she blew with him and "went out-2D".

They got her back and she routed out "standardly" so she didn't get declared.

Obviously Nicole and Harold split up. Harold left the SO. I have heard he died in an unnatural way. I never got the details. I think I heard somewhere he committed suicide. I don't actually know. If anyone else has more info I'd like to hear it.

Nicole wound up marrying Brian. I think they're still together. She was working as an FSM in PAC when I was last there. She now works as some kind of a consultant at one of those (presumably) owned Scientology Management companies. She does or did work for a company that deals with people who own car dealerships.

She also wrote a children's book a few years back.

That's pretty much what I know. She's on Facebook as Nicole Wheldon. I don't think she'll talk to you if she knows you're not "in good standing", though.

Thanks, lots of info.

While Nicole was my Reg......her Reg persona was a "Land Shark." She had little shark toys all over her office. She had a pair of those tong type grabbers....but the end was a Shark's mouth. I thought it was pretty funny.... She even signed her name with a Shark design on her Letters and receipts....

Then one day....they all disappeared. Every one of the Shark motif toys was gone.

To replace all this was some sort of "Wizard?" that had glitter dust...and a wand. ( or something like that...)

I always thought that some sort of upper management decision had come down on her to get rid of her Shark Toys....

Regges are a special breed.......real sales goals oriented !! Those skills are transferable to any sort of business....

Edited: To bad about Harold. He was soooo laid back. He always had a paper back book in his back pocket that he would always be reading on breaks. He was my OT3 Sup. Personally I thought he was quite a slob in the way he dressed. Unkempt. But I imagine that being SO Staff at AO it was difficult to keep ones cloths looking good, or even clean and pressed. I was a bit shocked when I met him. (Or having the money to buy new ones, once in a while...) When I heard that he had gone to Flag for training of some sort....I figured that he would have trouble due to his laid back nature. I didn't think he would fare well at a strict Flag type operation ...( just my thoughts...) Sad to hear your news about him....and how he ended.

Edited: Now that I'm older...and put on some weight....its hard for me to keep my shirt tucked into my pants as well.....if they are cut short and the tails are not long enough to keep tucked in. So usually just leave them untucked.
